The best times for me were right after high school graduation.
Several of us teenagers were pioneering together and we would work alone (sisters) in the late afternoons (3-6pm) and drive from one end of the territory to the other. This is back when gas was under $1 a gallon. We would do return visits we were pretty sure weren't home. We would also plan to stop at our favorite Ice Cream parlor and waste a bunch of time driving. We would spend 20 minutes driving to the rv and 20 minutes back. That took up almost an hour of time, especially with the break. We would stop at friends homes to cheer up the housebound and use the potty. That was expected anytime you worked within the radius of one brothers house. He loved the visits and kept treats and trinkets to give out. That always took at least a half hour.
There were even times we would get together with the teens from another congregation and drive 25 minutes to meet up with them and work together.
Once, a pioneer mom took us all to the mall and she handed out a couple of tracts while we were there and we counted the long drive there and back and just had a social time in the van packed with teens.
Waiting to pick up kids from school was always nice. Then they needed a snack.
When I had kids, taking time out to nurse them and care for them was nice. But the stess was riduculous on a young mom and what she should still be able to do.
We also would stop at wild life preserves in the territory and watch them for awhile.
So happy not be stuck in that world anymore!!!!

What To Enjoy About Field Service?
by WTWizard infield service.
you get up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning to make it to the kingdumb hell at 5:30 in the morning (since that feb 2004 kingdumb misery, they want everyone to meet for street work at this time).
a quick discussion of the text, misapplying it to fit the misery, and then prayer and we're off.

Circuit Overseer's Callous Remark
by snowbird ini was just thinking about a co's closing remarks one sunday after the watchtower study.
he stated that he had heard that ray franz was dead.
he didn't call him by name, of course.

Funny how they would keep tabs on someone they say to have nothing to do with and ignore--huh? Even though Jesus said you must love your enemies, that seems to be a scripture skipped over a lot. Instead it was always emphasized " you reap what you sow" and always in a negative context, not a rejoiceful harvesting of good!!!
Some Circuit Overseers seemed to be totally robotic and unfeeling, while others could melt your heart and have you in love with them like a little kid with his wonderful grandpa.
They already have Franz condemned as sinning against the holy spirit and thus unworthy of any fellow feeling. He was of the annointed, appointed by holy spirit, and yet turned his back on their (God's) organization. Some feel justified to criticize others when even jesus wouldn't rebuke satan. Self righteousness is a heady feeling.
Just my 2 cents. Kitten Whiskers -

If it wasn't a school project, maybe he and a buddy passed notes in class and joked about mailing them later. The buddy, now living in Georgia. That is pretty wild when you can't remember it right off!!!!
I would be interested to get one from me, probably be the best mail I've had in a long time seeing I am shunned by my best girlfriend!
Hope he can recognize it and recall the memory!

Welcome!
I haven't read your other posts yet, but this is a great place for support and empathy. Guilt is a hard thing, and forgiving ourselves sometimes seems even harder! You sound level headed and I am happy you have found a place to voice yourself and find strength. All the best and I'll keep an eye out for your posts!Kitten Whiskers

I had a new friend extend sympathy and understanding. That really helped me. She knew of someone in her church (southern baptist) that was raised jewish and how his family deserted him just like jws. She was concerned and tried to relate.
I had some family members express joy to my grandma (non-jw) and she told me about it. Cousins contacted me to tell me merry xmas (after they got a christmas card unexpectedly!) and my mom's cousin told me in a christmas card how glad she was to put us on her xmas card list and that she'd been praying for us for years. That caused me to pause. I didn't see her too much, but she is nice and I've always liked her, and here she was praying for us. I can honestly say as a witness I never once specifically prayed for her. Made me think.
Other than that, I never had worldly friends. Just worldly family. I am struggling to make them though! I am slowly emerging from the witness cocoon. -

The kisses from my children when I drop them off at school (they always struggle to be the first to plant one on Mama).
The caress of a slight breeze across my neck and shoulder on a warm day
The songs of the birds in the morning and dusk as I lie in the hammock
Watching nature shows of animal families and the closeness of the parent to their young (we can learn a lot from them as a society!)
Coffee with lots of flavored creamer
my husband kissing my neck and forehead (right now!!!!)
a new magazine in the mail to leisure over
The weekend- when we are all home and can relax and play together!!!! -

That was such a fear of mine. That someone would steal my baby. Nowadays fathers can stay in the room with the mother 24/7 and the babies don't hardly have to leave the room at all. Thankfully we have DNA testing now. I can only imagine your mothers trauma and fear that day. She must have been wild with fear. At least I would have been. Sorry, can't comment on if I would give up my one year old I believed to be mine. I can't emotionally even begin to try to walk down that road. My heart aches for anyone faced with that.

I feel for you. Sincere apology is a wonderful thing from a mother in my opinion. I can only imagine how tough the teen years will be with my kids. It is a tough age and almost like a fight for supremacy!!! (At least remembering back when I was).
Remember, all little girls want love from their mama. I used to tell my mom to go away when she tried to talk to me. Looking back that saddens me, because she hardly ever wanted to talk like that, and when she did I was going to make her work for it. She always took me at my word and left me alone. I just wanted her to fight for me. To really show she was going to care and not let me stop her love. Stupid teenage thinking.
She is testing you probably. Be sweet and hopefully it will crack her hard shell!!!! Hugs to you, and congratulations on loving her so much! I hope she sees that and cherishes it.

The more I research the word "Jehovah" the more I feel that we shouldn't...
by A-Team in..call the god of israel/abraham, issac and jacob that.
let's get that straight.
i still believe in ywhw and jesus, but he term "jehovah" may be wrong, imo.

Interesting you should bring this up. I was just thinking today how much I DO NOT want to use it. I always feel guilty, and like a JW again if I do. I use Heavenly Father, God and Lord.
I hate to say it, but I feel like I detest the name because of what I have associated it with my whole life. However, when visiting a friends Baptist church, they used it in song and carried a banner with the name at Easter. So at least I know JW's aren't the only ones who use Jehovah, although they would make you think they had it copyrighted!!!!!!
I am looking forward to reading others comments.
Kind Regards,
